Weather versus Overall

A Weather score describes typical weather suitability. An Overall score combines weather, visitor season and cost. The October selection above leads on weather; it isn’t a ranking of every destination by overall fit.

Averages, not promises

These are historical patterns, not forecasts, live crowd counts or hotel quotes. Regional averages can mask differences between towns, coasts and mountains.

Official records, explained

Weather uses ERA5, station-corrected for 2011–2025. Visitor seasons use Eurostat’s monthly regional accommodation data. Costs use Eurostat and national statistical sources.

Overnight stays help describe the season, not queues at individual sights. Day visitors and stays with friends are not counted. Most price comparisons start with national data; the destination guide explains any regional evidence.
